Macro Mystery #5

I have the blahs this week. Is it because I am always cold? Is it because England got knocked out of the World Cup? Is it because I have an almost continuous headache due to all the spray foam insulation that they are putting into my house? Is it because I have no sink? Or is it just because I am so very lazy? Who really knows, but it does mean that I am going to give you another Macro Mystery, since then you have to do the work and I don't have to. So, here it is:

I suspect that it is very easy, but that it is OK - why should I expect you to work hard if I don't have to?

For more Macro Monday, go here.

PS If you have seen this photo via my Facebook page, please don't pretend that you are a smartarse that has worked it out. I will know and I will tell everyone what a cheat you are.

The answer:

OK, all you cleverclogs out there - feather it is! I suspect that it is from a crow, since I just picked it up in my garden. Sorry about the rather shabby nature of the feather - my cats decided that it was actually a cat toy and have been playing with it all week.

Here is another really macro shot, much closer to the base of the feather.

Oh I love your sense of humour. So Englishy. lol. That's my down under endearment dear.

Lovely shot! Hope you're no longer bugged by the pull-out of England from the World Cup. Australia was out first before yours did! :)

Haha! I haven't seen your FB page lately, honest! I think it's a feather.

And I think you're feeling blah because of the foam insulation. Don't you know you should move OUT while they're doing that?

Very nice image. Looks like a feather to me.

If you look at it in one direction it looks like the corner of cardboard. :)
But, I agree that it is a feather.

Hope things are better for you soon.

Is it a feather or a palm tree? it looks fun and interesting.

Looks like a feather? peacock feather perhaps?

I would also say a feather and perhaps a peacocks.

Kala said...

I am guessing it is some type of leaf?

Hope the headaches get better soon!

I'm going with leaf or feather (obviously this is nothing to do with the previous 9 comments) *cough*

AL said...

LOL! That's a very intriguing photo! But I thought that looks like a palm leaf, am I right?

Great texture whatever it is, it kind of looks like the close up of a Rafier(sic)chair or something.

I'd say it's a palm tree frond [leaf]

DAPPLED SUNLIGHT on Plumbago Blossom I'd love to have you visit with me today if you can.

I'm thinking it's a feather. Well, whatever it it, it sure is pretty!

So sorry for all your unhappy occurrences. LIfe is sometimes just a bunch of mountaintop experiences followed by valleys - Your just trudging your way up to the top again! Hope it comes quickly and you are out of the doldrums soon!

What a fun mystery -

I really an clueless - and so want to find your flickr site to be relieved of this wondering!

My first thought was a feather - but I also thought perhaps the edge of a cushion?

Hope it is a great day for you!

Valerie stopping by for Macro Monday!

Cheer up :) It's already been mentioned but it does look like a palm tree leaf to me.

A leaf sounds reasonable to me as well, although initially it did remind me of a herringbone three piece suit I once had. Bit stiff, it was!

You have good humor, even with a headache! Amazing! I'm guessing a step? But now I'll have to dart over to your facebook page, find photo and see, lol.

Cool shot, I'm going with a feather also.

BB: Definitely English - just a tad sarcastic, perhaps!?!

Kim: Good guess ....... we shall see.....

Jay: Well, the insulation guy came at 8am on Canada Day. WTF? No warning, no advanced notice, no nothing. OK, so my contractor was getting married that day, so maybe he had an excuse to forget to tell me, but really - Canada Day. Don't you have a barbeque to fire up and beer to drink!?!

Awarewriter: Another good guess - you will also have to wait and see.

Carletta: Thanks - I hope so too, although today was no better, since nobody turned up at all!

Dharma: Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't. Perhaps I shall tell you tomorrow.

Jama: Ahh, getting more specific now..........

RE: You too!?!

Kala: The headache is pretty much gone, thank you very much.

EM: No, of course not, I would never have thought that.

Al: I shall tell you tomorrow. I hope the suspense is not too much.

Jane: It was the texture and pattern that I liked when I took the photo, so thanks.

Anni: Find out tomorrow.....

EGWow: Much prettier close up than I thought from a distance. That is one of the reasons I love macro photography.

Valerie: I really hope so too - I am looking forward to a lush valley, full of green grass, perhaps a babbling brook, some flowers and perhaps a few cows chewing contentedly on the grass.

PS: Leaf or feather, that appears to be the question.

Cortes: You have a suit!?!

Lisa: Remember - no cheating!

SQ: Another vote for feather.

DM: Welcome back Drowsey! It doesn't finish until the weekend, but don't worry, I have already moved on to the Tour de France. I can't ride a bike to save my life. Apparently, neither can a lot of the guys in the race - they keep falling off and breaking things. I think I shall stick to armchair sports.

Intriguing.
I'd say a bird feather.

I have no idea. Feather sounds good. Coconut leaves... uhuh, makes sense. Griddle pan of some kind is my guess. But what do I know. Nothing! Which is proven every week by both you and Jay. Thanks for undermining my self confidence ;-)

Don't Bug Me! said...

Gallicissa: Yep, well done!

Carolina: Jay is a lot meaner with her Macro Mysteries than I am! I just don't play unless I know what it is.

Clever photography (as always) ;-)

Great macro, and I did guess it was a feather before seeing the answer, but that is probably because I have tried similar shots!

Lucky you on the Telephoto. I look forward to seeing your results. :-)
