Macro Monday Mystery

Apparently, I only have time to post once a week, which means that from now on all of my posts will be Macro Monday posts! This week, I have even less time than usual, since I am very busy watching the Vancouver Winter Olympics. I might even have to pop down there sometime next week. So, I shall post a photo and then it is up to you, dear readers, to do the work.

The question is, what is it?

Answers on a postcard, please - or you can just send your answer via the comments. Since I don't think that this is too difficult (well, I wouldn't, would I, since I know what it is), I shall not be giving any clues just yet. If no one gets it by tomorrow, I shall give a few hints.

Enjoy the Olympics.

All the coal from Christmas stockings collected over the years? Looks like leather. Nice shot BTW.

I'm thinking the bottom of a tennis shoe?

well since I doubt you got that close to an alligator - I have no idea.

rubber sole? Or closeup of machinery of some sort like on a bicycle?
Enjoy the Olympics!

I would have guessed a crocodile, seeing as you can't have photographed the Wife's heels.

I think it's a lizard. Looks like a shingle back . .c'mon now. Put us out of our misery!

Looks like alligator skin to me.

Initially I thought an alligator, but that is likely what you wanted us to think. Eliminate that one!

So I thought lizard, but we always seem at odds as to what is and what isn't a lizard, so I will not suggest that, just to avoid another debate. So what is left?

Turtle.

Too bumpy for snake skin. Probably a lizard? Maybe one of those mosquito-eating little critters that poop all over your floors. LOL!

If that's so, it's a GREAT picture!

Hi All,

Crocodile is close, but who in their right mind would want to get that close to a crocodile? Cortes is actually the closest........

A rose by any other name is still a rose. A turtle by any other name is a tortoise. Closer?

Tortuga!

Can I have another guess? Perhaps the leg of a Galapagos Tortoise? Well maybe not a leg but the skinny bit.

Turtle or Reptile appendage!

(I'm pretty sure it is not a cobblestone road!) ;)

Cortes: You are so smart :o)

Quilly: If my spanish is correct, then so are you. Well done!

Baino - BINGO! It is the front leg of a giant Galapagos tortoise. You see, they are easy to get close to, and, unlike crocodiles they don't have humungous teeth and cannot move very, very fast.

Sistertex: No, definitely not a cobblestone road.

A tortoise leg? Wow. I would have bet a goodly amount on that being alligator hide.

Suldog: You would a poorer man if you had!

A Galapagos tortoise! Well, you fooled most of us! LOL!

Good one!
