Macro Monday: A Very Small Meal

It has been very cold here recently and I suspect that this great blue heron was greatful for his catch, even if it is rather small. Catching fish when your pond is all frozen over must be quite challenging. Perhaps this is a lesson for us all, especially me. Life can most definitely be worse!

So chin up, best foot forward and be grateful for every little morsel that comes your way.

  8. Great picture on the Blue Heron and his little catch !
Not easy for the birds to find food in the cold wintertime.

  10. Dear me - I hope he manages to catch something a little (lot) more substantial otherwise I fear his days are numbered!

  16. Well, if you don't appreciate the small things. Am I the only one who is worrying if the heron is okay? Which is rather hypocritical, because obviously whatever he's caught is clearly not having the best time either ;-)

  17. Haha, don't tell my bleeding-heart grandparents about the bird's plight or they'll be out there on the pond trying to give him a hot water bottle!

Good message, great picture. Hope you're keeping warm!!!

  19. Makes me wonder- what sense of touch do they have with the end of their beak? It seems hard to snatch such a small creature with a long tool if you can't feel it.
