Spot-the-Difference

Hmmmmm - I fear I might be getting a bit boring. A bit too birdy nerdy, perhaps? It seems that recently I have only posted photos of birds. Birds, birds and more birds. Admittedly, they are all very beautiful birds, but I fear I may be becoming a one-subject wonder. Or perhaps a one subject bore?

Oh well, since there doesn't seem to be much else happening in my life at the moment, I shall have to stick with the birds. Two gorgeous, but slightly different yellow-rumped warblers - can you spot the difference?

Audubon's warbler (Dendroica coronata auduboni)

Myrtle warbler (Dendroica coronata coronata)
On a positive note - I have unpacked 6 more boxes this week! I know, still unpacking boxes after being here for near-as-damn-it two years. I dare anyone to ask me how the renovations are going.........

Bird in a Box - Common Yellowthroat

Another Spring has Sprung - and here is the first warbler of the year for me. A gorgeous, bright and shiny new common yellowthroat.

These are shy little birds, rarely seen, hiding out in thick vegetation, usually close to water. However, its "wich-i-ty, wich-i-ty, wich-i-ty"call is often heard warbling throughout the wetlands. Apparently the males, while looking rather naughty with their faces hidden behind their little black masks, are actually quite well behaved, committing themselves to just one female per breeding season. The unassuming females, on the other hand, show no such fidelity and like to play the field, often sharing her nest with more than one male.

Male common yellowthroat - I would like to point out that this bird really was this bright. To be honest, he was even brighter, and I actually tried to reduce the yellow saturation of his chest so that it didn't glow quite as much!

What!?! Snow in April!?!

I woke up this morning to be informed that it was snowing in the valley.
Uh Uh - April Fools, right?

Apparently not - if I were an Eastern Kingbird, my face might look something like this!

Happy April Fools - she says sarcastically.

I did just hear one April Fools joke that made me chuckle - mostly because I wish it were true:
If only...............
